Today, Brost Land & Cattle Co. run approximately 200 Purebred Horned and Polled Herefords and about 200 mostly straight bred Hereford commercial females on 11,000 acres of dryland including some green feed and 1,000 acres of hay. “Our major focus is on our commercial ranch market,” Blaine explains. “However, we show purebreds to keep our name out there and keep abreast of the industry. We still feel that both the Horned and Polled genetics have something important to offer. It’s always nice to win Championship banners, but we are probably most renowned for our ability to sell good commercial bulls. In this area of the province, bulls have to be able to travel long distances and be sound on their feet.”
